ABOUT

Jester’s Sadness is a Dublin based music project led by musician and poet Al Doyle. Their first album as Jester’s Sadness is scheduled for release in early February 2024. In August 2018 they released their first single Little Heart (single mix) in anticipation of the upcoming album. Al has previously released two solo albums under the name of Alan Doyle: 2009’s Places and 2013’s Blasphemy. He has performed in several of Dublin’s music venues, including The Workman’s Club, The Grand Social and The Sugar Club and has regularly performed at showcases and open mics, such as Circle Sessions, Dublin’s Underground Beat and The Monday Echo in the International Bar. He also regularly shares his poetry at Sunflower Sessions. He once ran a showcase of his own called Indie Spirit Dublin in The Workman’s Club which featured some of the best up and coming artists and writers from Ireland and beyond, such as Rob Doyle, Naoise Roo, Kevin Nolan, John Cummins, Marcus Doo, Sinead White, Anne Tannam, Fiona Bolger and Dan Ryan, among many others. From 2004 to 2010 Al was based in Madrid, where he also performed in various venues, bars, showcases and open mics.
